Legal Treatises

You can search for a recent treatise on the laws of a particular country, or a specific topic in that country. Use the UM Carey Law Discovery Service (see left sidebar) or the traditional library catalog.  Search by Keyword or title using the name of the country you are interested in and additional subject terms if desired. For further information, see also the "Searching the Catalog" LibGuide.

Foreign Law Guide (UM Law only)
Contains substantial background information on foreign legal systems.

Legal Periodicals

Periodical articles can be useful sources for foreign legal materials. They may contain background information as well as the text of primary legal materials.

In addition to searching the legal periodical databases on Lexis and Westlaw, you may find it useful to search non-legal periodical databases. For more detailed guidance see   "Finding Articles in Legal Journals and Law Reviews" on the TMLL site.

Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals (IFLP) (UM Law only)
A subject index to selected international and comparative law periodicals and collections of essays. This is an index and not a full-text resource; if you find citations to relevant articles, you must record the citations and look for the journals in our electonic journals list or our library catalog.
